Why is it called AWS Lambda?

Amazon Lambda is a serverless computing service, which comes under the Platform as a Service (PaaS) category. It abstracts the underlying infrastructure, allows users to run and implement their codes.

Lambda in AWS cloud refers to the serverless computing service that allows users to run code without provisioning or managing servers. It offers features like automated administration, custom backend services etc.

The three components of AWS Lambda are given below:

• The event sources
• The Lambda functions
• The configuration provided by AWS.

Building serverless applications, event-driven processing, building chatbots, and running machine learning models are some of the applications of AWS Lambda.
